BONE MARROW, LEUKAEMIA AND TUMOUR SAMPLES ARE NOT STUDIED BY THE CYTOGENETICS UNIT AT MONASH HEALTH.

REFER BONE MARROW/LEUKAEMIA CASES TO THE HAEMATOLOGY REGISTRAR

REFER ADULT TUMOUR SAMPLES TO  'TUMOUR CYTOGENETICS - ADULT'

REFER PAEDIATRIC TUMOUR SAMPLES TO 'TUMOUR CYTOGENETICS - PAEDIATRIC'

Processing Instructions:Do NOT spin (centrifuge) or separate
Store at 4oC

Do NOT spin (centrifuge). CENTRIFUGED SAMPLES ARE IRRETRIEVABLY LOST TO TESTING. ARRANGE RE-COLLECTION.

Do NOT freeze or add formalin.

Out of hours/weekend samples to be refrigerated - place in Cytogenetics Specimens box in fridge. 

After hours, sterile yellow top containers with RPMI media can be located on the bottom shelf in Specimen Reception fridge. If a tissue arrives 'dry' place it in RPMI media.

During normal operational hours, store tissue at room temperature and phone Diagnostic Genomics (Cytogenetics) on 9594 4135 to collect.
